The Mouth of Sauron

The Mouth of Sauron for the MTG Lord of the Rings set. This was such a huge honor to be able to work on, I still can't believe I got to do it.
I was able to go back and forth with Ovidio Cartagena with his design and actually threw this particular one in as a hail mary that I didn't think would be picked (but it was secretly my favorite), but it was. It actually wasn't until the set was out that I looked up a picture of the Mouth of Sauron from the animated movie and saw the similarities and was kind of floored. The design must have been knocking around in my subconscious somewhere. This piece was the most time consuming out of all of them clocking in at around 60 hrs... Unfortunately the licensing restrictions were pretty strict and I can't share anything but the finished image. I hope you can hear the heavy metal playing in the background.
