O to See the Sun Again

The relationship between a Vampire and his thrall is a peculiar one.

O to see the Sun again
Ages and more have passed
Since I basked in Her radiance
A presence unlike any other
A consort from a distant lifetime
I am unable to remember
If it is Her that has left
Or the light from within
Has been gutted
Put to death and risen again
Exhumed
Wrought from the earth, wriggling and writhing
To be dried and shattered by the sun
Gracefully clinging to life
Born anew as something low
Only a reflection of an umbrage
Grasping at nothingness
O to see the Sun again
My muse now my bane
Only time and rumination
Can bring Her back
But She is not what She once was
Nor am I
